Q&A with our co-founder Tayler on her Italian Wedding.
1. Did you enjoy planning your own wedding?
It might be rare to some - but I actually loved planning my wedding. My now Husband was so involved in the whole process, which I know is quite uncommon. We spent just over a year planning the whole thing but we both had really similar visions so it made it really enjoyable.
2. Where if anywhere did you get inspiration from when deciding your aesthetics?
It was a mix of just interests and style. I think I have my own distintive interests and style. I also gained a lot from Pinterest too, as it can be really overwhelming when trying to find ideas. I also wanted to create a timeless classic wedding that in 30 years to come, it didn’t look outdated.
3. Did you fall in love with your venue at first glance?
Yes! We went to Cagliari in January of 2023 which is probably the worst time to go as it was cold and nothing was in bloom. We had booked to see around 5 venues, most of which had very strange websites but they were beautiful in person. It is defintaley cruical you go and see your venue. When we walked into our chosen venue ‘Hotel Villa Fanny’ we knew it was us. It had the classic venue feel with a nod to rustic Italian.
4. Your wedding was in Sardinia … did you source your music from there?
All of our wedding vendors were from Sardinia & Europe. Our music for the day was an incredible jazz band, Marco Coco. I knew I wanted a jazz band ever since I watched the wedding scene in Meet Joe Black. He played all of our favourite jazz and swing songs and was such hit with all of our friends and family.
5. The menu was unbelievable, how did you choose what you did?
I was lucky enough to visit the venue with my husband in May of 2023, where were had an impeccable menu tasting. We had discussed over email sample menus, but once we were there we made a few tweaks as originally our menu was going to be 10 courses! Too much for the English guests to experience! It was a hard choice to sacrifice what dishes needed to be cut, as they were all delicious. We wanted to have a mix of fine dining with traditional Sardinian/Italian cuisine.
6. Do you think that looking back you would have done anything differently or was it perfect in every way?
The only thing I wished we had done, was to have stayed another day at the venue! We were so tired from the day of the wedding and the following morning we had to take down all the decorations and check out of the hotel early, so it was a bit of a rush.
But apart from that, the wedding was was perfect as it was, all the DIY decorations looked amazing and the vision I had truly came to life.
7. How on earth did you choose a videographer and photographer both from different countries?
Being a photographer myself, it was so hard trying to find someone that aligned with my style. Me and my husband didn’t want the traditional ‘wedding’ photography, we wanted something much more editorial. Our incredible photographer - Gradisca Photography, I found on Instagram via The Wed as one of Italy’s best photographers with her work being featured in Vogue multiple times. I knew she was the one for us. Her cool, edgy style was just what we were looking for.
Our videographer was another story! We weren’t actually going to have one, but at the last minute we decided that we really wanted a video of the wedding to relive the moments. On my bridal TikTok account @luxebride I saw that Beige & Wine had followed me. Although she only had a few posts, her work was so beautiful and again editorial, so I had to message her. She was based in Germany, so I wasn’t sure if she would come to Sardinia. Luckily enough she was free for the weekend of our wedding. Her work was absolutely stunning and she blended into our day.
